Vinoth has publicly expressed his frustration over the Central Board of Film Certification’s decision to award an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate to his upcoming film Jananayagan, while simultaneously questioning narrative leaks that he claims misrepresent the content. The filmmaker took strong exception to social media chatter suggesting that a beheading scene removed from last year’s blockbuster Jailer has been replicated in his new film, calling such comparisons “unfair and baseless.”

The controversy erupted after the CBFC cleared Jananayagan for theatrical release with an ‘A’ certificate, a decision that Vinoth believes stems from a lack of understanding of the film’s context. In a detailed statement, the director argued that the certification board has become increasingly conservative with action-oriented Tamil cinema, especially those featuring intense violence. He contrasted his film’s situation with earlier releases, asserting that similar sequences in past films had passed without an adult rating.

“When a character is shown decapitating someone, it is never gratuitous in our film.
